Mother and baby

We provide full antenatal care in the practice.

If you have a crisis pregnancy we are happy to discuss this with you in a non-judgemental way .

We will arrange referrals as appropriate.

If you become pregnant you are entitled to maternity care under the maternity and infant care scheme.

Maternity & Infant Care Scheme

Every woman who is pregnant and ordinarily resident in Ireland with a valid PPSN is entitled to Maternity Care under this scheme.  The agreed programme of normal maternity care compromises of 6 routine ante-natal visits in the case of a first pregnancy and 7 routine ante-natal visits in the case of subsequent pregnancies.  There will be a form for you to sign when you check in for each antenatal visit and for the 2- and 6-week check.   We recommend that you attend for your visits as per outlines in the table below.  The schedule of visits that is covered by the scheme is shown below *

Certain services which you may require as part of routine antenatal care are not covered by the Ante Natal Scheme.

Charges apply for the following:

B12 & Immunisation Injections  Glucose Tolerance Test   Urine tests/Blood tests/Swab checks/Sick Certs

Post pregnancy care unless part of the 6-week check – for example, wound infections, mastitis, episiotomy infection, post-natal depression are not covered under ante-natal care.

It is worth noting that visits not associated with your pregnancy are not covered by the scheme and if you do not have a Medical Card or Doctor Visit Card, then there will be a charge for these visits, e.g., chest infections/urine infections.
